BSNL Charges 40% Lesser than Other Private Players

BSNL is having almost zero visibility in advertising world, BSNL is updating consumers about its ongoing plans and offers in India and as a result private GSM users are forced to pay 39-43 per cent more for subscribing to one month local mobile calling pack, while paying 300-400 per cent more for every local landline / fixed line call per minute. 

Also, private telecom service providers have minimised the validity of their special tariff vouchers from 30 days to 28 days. A majority of special tariff vouchers for voice calls (from private players) are always given special benefits for mobile calling, which don’t apply to landline/fixed line calls. As a result, customers are forced to pay headline tariff or often called base tariff between Re.1/min to Rs.1.50p/min.

While private networks differentiate on the basis of on-net mobile calls, off-net mobile calls and fixed line calls, BSNL always differentiates between on-net (mobile/landline/fixed line) and off-net (mobile/landline/fixed line).

Moreover, majority of BSNL’s plan vouchers and special tariffs calling vouchers include on-net calls (local and national mobile/landline/fixed line) and off-net calls (local and national mobile/landline/fixed line). Therefore, if private network mobile users make a call on a landline, they are charged 300-400 per cent more as compared to BSNL Mobile users. 

If you compare the overall tariff, BSNL is giving more as compared to private networks while private network just give more visibility to their plans and offers. As they are spending more on ads, they are charging more from consumers. 

IRCTC : Ticket Booking Using SMS & USSD

Train passengers will be able to use their mobile phones to book tickets through a simple text-messaging-based facility or a menu-based dial ling service from July 1. The two non-internet systems developed by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) can be used with even simple feature phones.

• There is no need to log onto the internet or stand in a queue.

• Any mobile user can operate this system using handsets ranging from feature phones to smartphones.

• There is no need for an internet connection and customers will not have to pay any data charges.

In the menu-based dialling service, a system called unstructured supplementary data (USSD) is used where you have to dial the numbers on the menu offered. Payment is made through mobile wallet. 

For the SMS-based ticket service, customers need to register with their banks to generate Mobile Money Identifier (MMID), a seven-digit random number. For the menu-based USSD system, there is no need to register with the bank and payment can be authorized through a mobile wallet.

Six berths or seats can be booked in a single transaction through the new systems.

THE TWO OPTIONS

1. SMS-based booking

* Registered IRCTC users can use this service. You also need to register your mobile number with IRCTC as well as your bank, which provides Mobile Money Identifier (MMID) and one-time password (OTP)

* Send SMS to designated number in following format: BOOK

* You receive a transaction ID

* Make payment with an SMS to designated number

2) USSD (menu-based dialling)

* Dial designated number, select 'book tickets' option, select 'reservation' (user is prompted to enter his IRCTC user ID once only), enter details (station, train no., date, etc)

* Enter mPIN for authorizing payment through mobile wallet

* Booking confirmation SMS is sent by IRCTC

HDD Regenerator : Repair Bad Sector of Hard Disk

1.  The first thing you’ll need to do is download HDD Regenerator and run through the quick, easy installation steps.

2. For Windows 7 users, it’s important to right click on the HDD Regenerator icon on your desktop, and choose to run it with Admin privileges.

3. When HDD Regenerator launches, you’ll be in the main interface of the program. Click on the top section to repair bad physical sectors or damaged drive surfaces under the Windows option.

4. Choose the disk drive that has the bad sector(s) and then click on “Start Process.”
